ABSTRACT
This study is set out to investigate the “Analysis of Areas of Difficulties among Students in Nigeira”. Methodology: Relevant data were drawn from selected students from selected secondary schools in Enugu, using a well-structured questionnaire. Chi-square was used to check the hypothesis. The result of the findings revealed that there is a significant effect of areas of difficulties in mathematics on students’ academic performance in Enugu. Study conclusion and policy recommendations: The study concluded that it can be concluded that, poor perception of mathematic curriculum can be established as the reason for the poor performance in mathematics. Finally the study recommends: that Workshops should be organized for mathematics teachers to train them on how to effectively teach the identified difficult mathematics concepts which students struggle with. and Mathematics teachers should abstain from concept skipping and endeavor to complete the scheme of work by relating the teaching of mathematics to students’ daily activities via sufficient problem solving.
