ABSTRACT
This research work investigated the relationship between funding and implementation of Universal Basic Education in Onitsha Local Government Area secondary school of Anambra State. Ten out of 19 secondary schools in the local government area were sampled, also 100 respondents were sampled, in each school ten teachers were selected using stratified random technique. The research questionnaire Funding Implementation of Universal Basic Education (FIUBEQ) was used to elicit the data needed for the research. The data obtained were analyzed using Pearson product moment correlation statistic method to determine the relationship between funding and implementation of universal basic education. The test of significant for taking decision on the three hypotheses (main and operational) set for the investigation was at 0.05 level of significant.
The study clearly revealed that some of the selected schools were adequately funded in some aspect and inadequate in some school, and there was significant relationship between funding and implementation of universal basic education in Irepodun local government area secondary schools of kwara state. Based on the findings it was recommended that the funds made available should be judiciously utilized for maximum achievement of universal basic education goals and objectives.
private individuals, organizational bodies, communities should also join hands together with the government to bear the burden of financing universal basic education, in order to ensure successful implementation of the programme.
