The Concept of Career choice
In a research done to determine the effect of family influence on career selection, Olayinka (2022) indicated that 35.5% of the youths sampled asked for their parents' advice before selecting a job, while 41% sought this advice from other relatives within their families. The two percentages combined give 76%, representing the youth sample who select careers through their families, hence proving that family has a direct influence on students' career selection. Additionally, in another study done in Buea Municipality, Nicoline reported that 80% of students in her sample were advised on how to choose a career by their parents and other family members.
