The problem of the study was on analysis of WAEC and NECO questions in additional mathematics. Bloom’s taxonomy was used as the focus of the analysis.
In order to solve the problem of the research, the researcher draw three research questions that were based on the following variables: WAEC and NECO on Bloom’s taxonomy: representation of the domains of Bloom’s taxonomy in additional mathematics questions; and the WAEC and NECO pattern of drawing questions on additional mathematics.
Five years questions on additional mathematics from 2005-2009 were sampled where all the six level of the Bloom’s taxonomy (cognitive domain) were tested using simple percentage.
The analysis shows that knowledge, comprehension and application carried high weight as compared with the analysis, synthesis and evaluation under the cognitive domain. It could also be seen that the way the WAEC and NECO explored these levels in their questions were not much different from each other.
There were some recommendations suggested for all stakeholders in education and administrative classes that may require the result for policy making.
additional research could also be carried out in related topics.
