ABSTRACT
This study concerned Lagos State Primary Education Board. It examined the impact of Lagos State Primary Education Board on the running of Primary Schools between 2000 and 2006. The study was carried out in some selected Primary Schools, Local Government Education Authority Staff in Lagos State, staff of the State Primary Education Board, Ikeja and the public in general. The aim was to examine the origin of State Primary Education Board and to assess how far the programme has been successful by assessing the performance of Primary Education sub-sector in Lagos, between 2000 – 2006.
The instrument used was the self designed questionnaire which elicited the necessary information about the impact of LSPEB. The study was descriptive survey. While the statistical analysis simple percentage method was adopted for. It was discovered that LSPEB has played positive impact on the running of Primary Schools.
Useful suggestions were made as to how the board can be more effective towards their functions.
The outcome of the study:
There seem to be no clash of interest between the SPEBs and or LGEA as far as their functions and roles and concerned but rather, they are complimentary.
Teachers, welfare now receive better deal even through there is still exist some cases here and there.
Teachers can now be said to face strict disciplinary action than before which is purely due to the high level of monitoring and supervision programme embarked upon by SPEB over all the teachers throughout the state.
