ABSTRACT
This study investigated staff development and job performance in selected secondary schools in Surulere Local Government Area of study of Lagos state. Research questionnaire on the impact of staff development on job performance was drawn to elicit response from respondents. Simple percentage was used for the analysis of data and descriptive technique was used to interpret the result.
The researcher identified the important of ensuring adequate staff development training programme. The findings revealed that staff development goes hand-to-hand in terms of their job performances. Staff development has a greater impact on job performance and this was revealed in the result gathered through questionnaire that larger percentage of the total respondents agreed that staff development programmes enhance job performance. On the other hand, a small percentage of the respondents were not even sure whether the training undergone has aided their performance or not. It therefore recommended that government should try to commit more funds to training programmes of teachers.
