CHAPTER ONE INTRODUCTION 1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Acquisition of an office technology and management skills involves the transferring knowledge of an office manager from the teacher or lecturer to the learner.
An office technology is a cause that has been passed through generation of history.
The different period through which it has passed various way of doing what constitutes the present day subject in office technology and management such as typing, recording information, filing etc.
According to Wikipedia an office technology refers to the use of computer system software and network for processing and distribution of data and communication.
An office a part of building where business activities is carry on, technology enable an organization to manage its operations effectively and create a competitive advantage,
Office technology consists of technical devices and tools used in an organization to executing or carry out everyday task such as managing payroll information, analyzing sales records and communication.
For an organization to take significant or important advantage of technology it requires person in such area as computer network ,administrator etc. it has been developed from the idea of typing with our manual typewriting However, the desire of men is to increase the different way or method of writing dictated note and how to handle office equipment in an organization.
1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
The service of an office manager is very important in every organization in today world, any organization without the service of an office manager is heading nowhere, because manager are the life wire of every organization , today the function of an office manager has beenexpanded large enough, particularly in the line of technological development.
According to Osuala (2004) stated that there are wide range of an office machine and equipment in the office today which enable the manager to perform his duty , but the problem we are facing here is that , how can a manager improve without the practical aspect of those machine , this become a problem for some of the office manager.
1.3 PURPOSE OF THE STUDY
The purpose of this study is as followed:
iii. To look for a possible way on how to study some of the office machine that is within the school.
1.4 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
This study on the factors militating against the acquisition of an office technology and management skills in Rivers State Polytechnic is aim at producing veritable solution to education, administration and the public at large to reach useful decision regarding the supply of available resources for effective acquisition of an office and management skills in Rivers State Polytechnic.
1.5 RESEARCH QUESTIONS
There are factors militating against the acquisition of and office technology and management skills in Rivers State Polytechnic Bori, this research question will be a guide to the researcher.

1.6 DELIMITATION OR SCOPE OF THE STUDY
This research study was carried out in Rivers State Polytechnic Bori offer office technology and management in National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) and it is designed to the factors militating against the acquisition of an office technology and management skills in Rivers State Polytechnic, Bori.
1.7 LIMITATION OF THE STUDY
A research of this cannot be completed without some problem or limitation, the researcher faced some problem such as financial issue and also. Another limitation faced by the researcher is the retriever of questionnaire back to the researcher.

– Laboratory: A building for scientific experiment or teaching
– Instructional: A direction or teaching
– Facility: A piece of equipment provided for a particular purpose.
– Vocational: Relating to providing or undergoing training in a special skill
– Insufficient: Not enough
– Skill: The ability to do something well
– Questionnaire: A written list of question that are unshared by a number of people so that information can be collected from the answer.
