1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
Organizational conflicts are inevitable and are neither good nor bad. As organizational workforce becomes increasingly diverse, the stage for conflict becomes set as a result of sprawling differing goals, perceptions, values, commitments and demands on resources.
Globalizations and reductions of trade barriers simultaneously reduce many companies’ resources. At the same time, many organizational processes increase the interdependence among persons and units. This mix of reduced resources and heightened interdependence underpins many organizational conflicts.
The problem in organizational conflict therefore lies in the inability of organizational managers to understand conflict and the remedies to be used in conflict situations. Thus, this research project fills this gap in knowledge by providing enlightenment to organizational mangers on the causes, effects and remedies of organizational conflict.
1.3 OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
This study is aimed at generating data that will enhance the understanding of conflict, its causes, effects and remedies in Nigerian organizations.
In specific terms, this research:

This study answered the following research questions which formed the basis of the study and provided information required to understanding the causes, effects and remedies of organizational conflicts. Thus:
1.5 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
The significance of this study lies in the fact that its finding will enable organizational managers to have in depth knowledge of causes of conflict, its effects on the organization and the remedies available in managing conflict not only in Nigeria but across the world. This research work also serves as a contribution to the body of knowledge and as a reference literature for future studies in organizational conflict. It is also a partial fulfillment of the conditions necessary for the award of Bachelor of Science degree to the Researcher.
